Latest News – PRESS STATEMENT: EWSC EMPLOYEE TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID-19 VIRUS
Thursday, 9 July, 2020 – Eswatini Water Services Corporation (EWSC) confirms that one staff member has tested positive for the Corona Virus. The National Emergency COVID 19 response team has been informed and contact tracing of family members and persons believed to have been in close contact with the positive employee has been done. The employee is now in isolation, receiving the care and treatment necessary for his recovery. As a precaution, we have requested all co-workers of the employee who were in close contact to self-quarantine and self-monitor as recommended by the COVID-19 guidelines for suspected infections.

EWSC initiated an ongoing proactive random testing of employees as one of the Corporation’s interventions in the fight against the spread of the Corona Virus. To date, from a total sample of 52 tests, 1 ( one) test came back positive for the COVID-19 virus. In addition, EWSC, has initiated internal and external communication protocols for such scenarios, including communicating with our staff and relevant stakeholders.
We have conducted a thorough disinfection of the affected facilities in accordance with safety and health guidelines. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, EWSC has implemented a number of preventive measures across our operations to help minimise the spread of the virus and ensure the wellbeing of our employees and customers.
The Corporation affirms that the health and wellbeing of our employees and customers are of priority, and we will continue to be vigilant in our efforts to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
